Suzie Zamit

About

Suzie studied sculpture at City & Guilds of London Art School where she found herself especially drawn to life modelling and portraiture - the face seeming to contain the essence of the personality. Whilst there she won a travel scholarship to Florence and a Tussauds excellence award.

In her work the human form is endlessly inspirational - she strives to capture the emotional presence and express the inner life of her subject.

Her studio is at her home near Highgate in North London. For a commissioned portrait she generally requires four to six sessions with a sitter, or can work from photos. She models in clay and the work is then fired or cast into plaster or bronze.

She has been a member of the SPS since 2000 and exhibitions include their annual FACE show in Cork St, London W1 and the Threadneedle Prize 2009 at the Mall Galleries, London SW1 Her work is in private collections across Europe and in 2009 she designed and sculpted the new Charles Darwin coin for the Royal Mint.
